    1. Ich habe diesen Band nach einer Kunstaustellung in Basel f r eine Freundin gekauft,um ihr anhand der Bilder und Texte ber die Ausstellung zu berichten.

    2. If memory serves me, the original format of this book was 2 separate volumes Impressionism in France and Impressionism in Europe and North America , containing the same information in a much larger size This single volume is only 5.75 X 7.5 , and almost 2 thick, containing over 700 pages As others have noted, the type is small so small it is impossible to read The type is probably an 8pt in the main text, and 6pt in the biographical sketches in the back That, coupled with the reduction is size o [...]

    3. Being an impressionism addict, and having numerous books on Impressionism and its many masters, this book was a disappointment by any measure As an anthology on Impressionism, there s nothing like it on the market, and the price is certain to win many over My disappointment lies in the DESATURATED washed out COLOR reproductions in the book, a travesty because the essence of impressionism lies in the brush strokes, luminous vibrant colors and just the right amount of saturation, all clearly lacki [...]

    4. There are several editions of this book out there, the best of which is probably the 10 2010 25th anniversary 2 vol hardcover ISBN 10 3836522861 which is 10 x 13 x 3 inches Unfortunately, the other hardcover editions are much smaller although still 712 pages, the 1996 2 vol set ISBN 10 3822886432 is only 7.7 x 9.7 X 2.7 inches and a newer 11 2013 1 volume edition ISBN 10 3836548933 is only 11 x 8.5 x 2 inches I purchased the 1996 edition and regret it besides the size, the reproductions are rela [...]

    5. What a waste of money This book is stupidly small You can t read the writing it is so small and the pictures are way too reduced to get a smattering of what the artist intended And there is a microscopic biography of the artists at the back of the book good luck trying to read it, you ll need a magnifying glass Taschen should NEVER be considered for art books Either they are only 85 pages and just scratching the surface or they are like this one obsurd and an insult Obviously written for a mythi [...]

    6. In most ways this is a great set of books at a great price Excellent text by a worthwhile and authoritative author Plates are good quality good detail, good color Unfortunately the plates seem to be scattered randomly throughout the books, and it takes a lot of effort and page flipping to find the plate being referenced by the text.
