    1. I liked it minor spoilers I don t pretend to know much about military protocol workings from within so if any part of the book is wrong, well I have no idea That being said, I ultimately enjoyed this book though I was skeptical to read it to begin with Subjects of rape and such always make me cringe Thankfully it wasn t necessarily the main focus of the book The book is about Major Marsha Gagliano return home after being held captive for over 5 years.Like I said, I liked the book but I felt ther [...]

    2. Lieutenant Marsha Gagliano has been missing in Afghanistan for five years after her helicopter crashed into the mountains She reappears unexpectedly at the embassy in Kabul, heavily pregnant and with two small children in tow, saying that she has been held captive by a nomadic tribe.Heather, Marsha s wife, has been desperately holding onto a sliver of hope that Marsha may return to her someday, although it s been five years She spends her time raising their young daughter, Hayley When two unifor [...]

    3. It genuinely surprised me when I saw that this book got such a high rating The synopsis seemed interesting and novel Inever encountered a similar plot I had high hopes, but Meinel let me down Why 1 The characterization of the tribe that held Marsha captive and of Afghanistan as a whole was one dimensional There is to the Middle East and the Muslim world than the violence reported on TV It is a place of history, culture, and hospitality Meinal glossed over that and depicted the region stereotypi [...]

    4. This one just wasn t for me Things were often over explained in what was very much a tell, not show kind of book. The subject matter is both fascinating and horrific, but I couldn t seem to connect with the characters I skimmed a lot of domestic scenes bogged down with paragraphs describing in detail car seats and changing babies In saying that, there were a few moments between the main characters with real, human connections that were written very well.Tidied up with some editing out of very rep [...]

    5. ExcellentThis was the first book I have read from this author, but it won t be the last I loved the storyline of the struggle that the characters went through I was book from the start to the end I would definitely recommend this book.

    6. I m never quite sure what I ll get with this author but this book is an intriguing story It s not always an easy read as the main character suffered numerous forms of brutality after a helicopter crash in Afghanistan I love these novels that have strong women who persevere through immeasurable pain and find happiness again At times I thought the story was a touch improbable but if it takes a bit of literary license to make a story better, I m all for it.

    7. Riveting.A really fantastic read I started this book late one evening I only mean to read for a few hour, but I couldn t put it down The story was engrossing, well written and truly entertaining K Anne has done it again This is an author to follow So far I have read two of her books and they are really good
