    1. This was a true crime where it felt someone was pulling on my heartstrings Wow so hard to read I have always enjoyed reading books about children who suffer from women with munchausen by proxy I hate absolutely hate when you read in news articles or even in this case a judge saying the mum suffered from this disease No she did not suffer Her son did This is not a mental illness and it seems people forget that Glad to read the author has the same opinion and knew what he was writing about. Now I a [...]

    2. Wow Just Wow This book is about a young mother with the diagnosis of Munchausen s by proxy who eventually killed her little boy While it is a hard subject to read about I think it is something everyone should know about This boy may have lived if the people in her life and the doctors had been aware of what was going on Some of them did suspect but didn t investigate further This book also is interesting because of the aspect that social media played in the case She probably wouldn t have been [...]

    3. The book wasn t very well written, which why I can t give it a higher rating At times, it read like the author got ahold of the trial transcripts and just copied and pasted large sections BUT it was worth the read It sheds light on this situation and will hopefully save some other child s life.

    4. This is perhaps the most heart wrenching true crime book I have ever read Lacey Spears I just have no words It s not that I had never heard of munchausen by proxy but I ve never read a case where that was the most likely cause of a child s death If you have strong reactions to stories that include children I would strongly caution you to be aware that this book is going to strike deep.In addition to saying that the story is one that is bound to cause the reader an emotional reaction there are a [...]

    5. John Glatt is probably my favorite true crime author He makes you feel like you are right there in the middle of the case.

    6. True Crime Commemoration 12Setting the times of iPhone 4 in various states including New York and Florida

    7. I enjoyed this book, as much as you can enjoy a book about a mother who killed her son, but I found the second half, about the trial, to be very repetitive from the first part.

    8. The story was very gripping, however, the writing was not The book read like a collection of cut and paste from social media, interviews, and trial transcripts The second half of the book, the trial portion, read like a repeat of the first half and had no new information.

    9. Heartbreaking true story of a case of Munchausen by proxy Book, however, was very repetitive and could have been half as long without losing any substance.

    10. John Glatt uses this excellent book to detail the story of Lacey Spears who was perceived to be the ideal mother, but in reality was a monster who murdered her child A sociopath who suffers from Munchausen by Proxy, Lacey is currently serving a 20 year to life sentence for killing her five year old son by poisoning him This chilling story is mesmerizing but extremely difficult to take because of the subject matter Glatt does a great job telling how Lacey started poisoning Garnett, her son right [...]

    11. While this is a very uncomfortable subject matter to read about, I think John Glatt did a great job recounting the story of mommy blogger Lacey Spears and her young son, Garnett The amount of people throughout Garnett s short life that saw the red flags and didn t do anything, the number of times Child Protective Services was contacted, but nothing ever came of it, the pain suffering that Garnett had to endure is all so heartbreaking Unfortunately I think this is a syndrome that is hard to recog [...]

    12. MSBP cases are so interesting to me, which makes me feel like a horrible slug because it s almost always children who are victimized through this Lacey Spears case was even so to me, maybe because of the social media aspect to it I wonder if MSBP has become common or relevant since the Information Age it s so much easier to reach people, and therefore, get attention from people using the internet.A well written, heart wrenching book I m so glad that Garnett got the justice he deserved.

    13. The book was well written but the subject matter was difficult at times Lacey Spears was a twisted woman who abused her beautiful little boy I don t understand how family members didn t see it or intervene Doctors, Nurses, Family, Friendsey add had an inkling about Spears but did little to nothing to help Garnett Even the boys real dad did not take a stand to find out his rights as the boy s father It s a really sad tale of a lunatic, an innocent child and a bunch of people who stood by and watc [...]

    14. My rating doesn t reflect my interest in the story munchausen by proxy is always a five The book though could have been half as long, and makes me seriously annoyed with the word momma Seriously, murder aside, crazy moms that post every five seconds on Facebook are annoying enough Also, was the end supposed to be leading us to think the grandma was involved Obviously she wasn t but the author made her sound suspicious Anyway, very interesting true crime read, albeit a bit long.

    15. What a sad story So glad that the mother got what was coming to her and I hope she spends the rest of her life behind bars Cannot believe that a mother would treat a child like that, it makes me sick that there are those type of people in the world Well written, dragged in some parts but picked back up and kept me reading.

    16. This subject is absolutely heart breakingly horrifying but, this author captured the essence of the whole case He spent enough time answering to the emotions the reader is bound to feel while still balancing it with enough facts and accurate information to make it a well researched work.

    17. Shocking Easy to read and follow in chronological presentation This is shocking that a mother could kill her child for self satisfaction and attention It is also very shocking that this mother was not suspected before she was

    18. A Dangerous MotherA good book This mother knew exactly what she was doing She created her life with lies She hated her parents because they knew the truth She thought her son was a toy, that s why she kept playing with his life, until he was gone.

    19. While the case itself was interesting, the writing was very repetitive This could have been written in half the pages and gained stars Lacey is right where she belongs and I hope she stays there I had no idea salt could be so harmful, some of the doctor s statements were very informative.

    20. I listened to this as an audio book, and it seemed awfully repetitive lots and lots of reiteration about what witnesses saw as Lacey Spears engineered the death by salt overdose of her 5 year old son, Garnett.

    21. It was okay I like true crime stories but the way this one read, was hard to keep straight The time , date and varies people were al ost too much detail

    22. Great bookDisturbingly enthralling behind the scenes look at a disturbed woman Couldn t put it down Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick read.

    23. Kind of a boring read but I enjoyed it anyways I dont know if Lacey was guilty or not the book makes it seem like she was but I don t understand how a mother could harm a child.

    24. True CrimeLacey Spears StoryHow could she do these things to her child Why did someone not recognize and question the mother

    25. Riveting and eye opening I was in no doubt by the end of this book that Lacey Spears did exactly what she was accused of doing.

    26. For me, a riveting read all through Glatt is a focused, clean writer with a natural reporter neutrality that appeals to me as a reader In turns I was frustrated and fascinated by the unraveling story there were so many people that noted and reported Spears disturbing behavior and contradictory statements when in came to her son s health and eating habits, though no report ever prompted than a cursory examination of the boy s home life and his relationship with his mother, which appeared normal [...]
