    1. Gimme Gimme Gimme We Want to Read this One Yesterday Buddy Read GGGWWtRtOYBR with my Dearest of Wives and our Favorite Stalker, over at the MacHalo Mansion So I ve been trying to figure out why the fish I love this series so bloody shrimping much I mean, it s neither gloriously dark nor deliciously violent, and the characters are not orgasmically screwed up To make things worse, there is that whole Repulsive Light Cute and Comfy Read RLCaCR thing going on It s pretty disgusting, really And quite [...]

    2. 4.75 A buddy read with my friends the MacHalo Freaks, since we really like Tigreen and Flitzbies What a wonderful, heartbreaking, but completely magical tale I stayed up all night so I can engulf it and find out what happened This Universe where people of all shapes, forms, races and genetics try to find the best way they can exist and be safe, is beautiful, colorful and still can find a way to reach inside your chest and rip your heart out I felt very lucky to have come across this series and w [...]

    3. The way the previous book ended I just couldn t restrain myself from immediately starting this one I just had to know what will happen I wanted to learn how it would end that in my haste I would skip a paragraph and then return to read it I m pretty sure that I missed some major point in my mad race to the finish line I must schedule a reread in the near future so I can properly enjoy this one Baniel is one of those villains that you hate in your guts Everytime he showed on page I felt like thro [...]

    4. OMG This is one of those series books where playing hooky for a few hours and losing sleep was just so worth it I really don t know how Ms Hogarth knew what this science fiction multicultural loving geek chick needed, but this series has been the panacea for all the huge disappointments especially in IR I ve come across And technically, it s not a romance, but a huge sweeping epic of the far off reaches of the universe, the families we come from and those we make, political and social upheaval, [...]

    5. I can scarcely think of a better way to wrap up Theresa Edding s story It was wonderful to see the character examine herself and continue to mature even as she risked her life fighting for her new people Perhaps I could have done without the romantic subplot though I had been hoping for it since early in the second book what can I say Sometimes I think the story is best served by leaving me wanting , but I do love the way Hogarth sought answers, in story, to the questions most discerning readers [...]

    6. Read reviews at The Bibliosanctum DR Review 4 of 5 stars I have been emotionally compromised.Longer Review The second book ended on a such a bang, making it impossible for me to not start this book, the last book, immediately Laisrathera, which means Earthrise in Hirianthial s native tongue, brings about a satisfying conclusion this series The second book introduced us to Hirianthial s home planet after Hirianthial starts exhibiting psi abilities that are abnormal even for his people This is wh [...]

    7. Laisrathera, Book 3 of Her Instruments, concludes the trilogy begun with Earthrise and continued in Rose Point A well written and fitting conclusion to this trilogy No truly surprising plot twists or epiphanies, but sound and entertaining story telling I am going to have withdrawel symptoms for a while, this world sucked me in so deeply.I liked the addition of Val and Belinor, especially Val was a character with a lot of potential The immediate connection between those two, with possible benefit [...]

    9. Enjoyable and a good finish to all the story threads begun in the first two books I d have given it five stars except Reese spends the last quarter of the book continually reviewing her many flaws, how she overcame them, and the lessons she s learned This takes the form of encouragement to others, apologies, thank you s and self reflection All of that is good and well, but it would have better served the story to not bring things to a grinding halt with this continual repetition Once in her conv [...]

    10. Apparently, my expectations for this were higher than I thought, because while it was still good, it wasn t as good as the first two Its mood was very different I need a break from the one damn thing after another after another after another trope than the others, and the action was paced differently, which is part of what didn t work for me In the previous two, there was a better balance of the emo character development, while this title was all about that Disappointing, but still worth having [...]

    11. O M BLOODY G.I freaking enjoyed this book like seriously This book starts right after the last book and Boy was this book packed with action and complicated war plans and intense MY GOD First off I am shocked by the level of slavery and rape in this book, I mean ah I know what to expect when I finished reading the last book but the level of violence in this book is Hella bad But that s the thing isn t it makes the book a page turner oh gosh I m going to hell for thinking like this LOLAlright alr [...]

    12. Well, this book kept me up way too late on a weeknight to finish it Totally worth it though This book is a little gritty than the previous two, even if this series has never shied away from the unsavory However, and this is why I can still love it in spite of that, it s still about good In this book, people are usually good and genuinely want to do the right things The heroes , but even the secondary characters and especially a certain villain that neither I nor Reese wanted to like but we both [...]

    13. The night in which I created sims of the Earthrise crewI honestly really fell in love with this series Which makes it so infuriating that I have no one to talk to about it There s no fan fiction and little fan art I guess that means I m going to have to put my ass in gear and make my own I sped through the trilogy so fast because I absolutely needed to know what happened next I didn t really give much time to absorb the details I d love to read it again and illustrate some of my favorite scenes [...]

    14. Great book 3 in seriesI read book 2 and 3 in quick succession and unfortunately misremembered story details for book 2 in my review Great series overall It makes me want to read of Hogarth s I lespecially love the knack she has infusing humor throughout The surprise grins enrich the story experience By the end ypu feel that you know Reese and Hiran and that it would be nice to be a part of the crew The diversity and supporting roles of the crew was rendered beautifully Another great story Thx M [...]

    15. Good bookThis is a good story I enjoyed continuing to watch these characters grow together I thought this was a great sci fi fantasy novel.

    16. SPOILERS FOR ROSE POINT IN THIS REVIEW Though if you re reading this before you read Rose Point One might think that after this many, I d get tired of writing reviews for M.C.A Hogarth s work That I would get bored of trying to find something to criticize just so that I sound like I m not getting paid to say nice things about her That somehow, I would grow weary of reading about fuzzy people in space trying to deal with decidedly non fuzzy people in space.but then again, one might not know me ve [...]

    17. Having read pretty much all of the author s non fantasy books, I have been dying to title this review Healed by her mortal heart This book was my least favourite of the three, being very much about romance and Court politics Neither of these I am much into I felt the author strayed from sci fi into fantasy and the adventure ended up as a standard full time romance novel I would have wished the kick arse protagonist to remain a kick arse character, rather than to turn into a housewife even if one [...]

    18. Right as everything is coming together for Reese and her crew, a coup throws the planet into chaos Now Reese is hiding refugees and political prisoners Hirianthial is off planet with the deposed Queen getting medical treatment for his injuries he got during the attack The only way back together is to get the rightful Queen back on the throne. This book is about making a new civilization from the remains of an old one How do they want to live What does it take to rule Liolesa, the deposed queen ha [...]

    19. Do you like presents The unexpected gifts are times the ones you may appreciate cause they reflect the eyes of the beholder view of what they think you want The Captain Reese has gotten much than just presents The loyalty of friends even strangers permeates her awareness thus opening her doors of happiness.

    20. This book, my god, this book I don t think I ve stayed up all night reading a book in the last decade or so not that there were not some very good books in there but I literally could not put this one down It was perfect in every single conceivable way, and some that I hadn t thought to conceive of.Spoilers view spoiler I SO appreciated that the happy ending to this book didn t just happen when the war was won and the dramatic kiss gesture happened though the dramatic kiss gesture was quite poss [...]

    21. I enjoyed this book and thought it was a fitting end to the trilogy In the first book I didn t really like Reese but she has grown on me and even though this book is mainly about Hirianthial it was interesting to see how she has developed over the three books. However the book wasn t perfect and at one point I did begin to think it was all going to fall apart About a third of the way through things went a little awry, a few inconsistencies started to creep into the story that were a little annoyi [...]

    22. I ll keep this short since I ve written reviews of the first two already It s a good sci fi novel and I enjoyed it even though I don t read much sci fi The series is great as a whole, and this was a satisfying continuation and conclusion The plotting is sufficiently complex without becoming far fetched, and the romance was handled pretty much the way I like it important but in no way overbearing the plot There s a bit of melancholy in the ending, but it s a sweet kind. There was one strange thing [...]

    23. Captain Reese and her crew end up in trouble Again Biggest trouble they ve been in yet, and that s saying something Getting involved with the world of the Eldritch is politics and backstabbing than one trading crew should have to deal with But with Hirianthial having developed strange new powers, the tough way is the only choice. This is the kind of book that left me both sad that it was over and happy because everything that I wanted to know was brought up and wrapped up I love the characters e [...]

    24. An exciting, emotional conclusion, full of darkness and lightIt s war, even if for the Eldritch that involves an army of hundreds, not thousands, and terrible things happen in war, especially one manipulated by a hate filled traitor and a slaver torturer Nevertheless, there are still friendships and loyalties old and new, wisdom found in sometimes unexpected places including leading Hirianthial to spiritual acceptance of the God s difficult gift , and love finally admitted and fulfilled Reese s [...]

    25. This trilogy not only didn t dissappoint, but it continued to get better with each passing book As the stakes grow higher and higher, the characters draw the reader in further and further What s best, the author took her time tying up all the loose ends Where most series will leave me feeling like a close friend left suddenly without so much as a Goodbye, leaving nothing but an emptiness and pained hollowness, this series feels like we got to go out for a couple of drinks and talk about old tim [...]

    26. Battles and marriages and baby aliens and executions and attempted genocide It s a rush.I didn t realize until I started this series, and then was prompted to look into it, is that the author doesn t consider rape worse than other physical attacks My interpretation of this is that she s not downplaying rape, but asking us to consider the cost of physical violence on people Especially when it can only really be termed torture I do think personally that rape as makes me uncomfortable in a way that [...]

    27. Disclaimer I don t read a lot of sci fi high fantasy That probably has a lot to do with why I m not crazy about this novel I guess I expected different results from this series, but it turned out to still be Star Wars prequels levels of we re at war, and you could be watching us do all kinds of awesome stuff, but instead listen to people talk about what they should do and drink tea That was this book Off screen, all kinds of hell is breaking loose, but pretty much all we get is 200 pages of peop [...]

    28. Summary Good book, but a little weaker than the first 2 books in the series still a bit too much romance for my liking, but well written, the universe works well without being too exciting The plot is a little contrived and a bit obvious, moves along nicely, the characters are interesting all in all an enjoyable read Its just too easy in places.Plotline Nice and simple plot but well thought out, the book moves on very nicelyPremise An interesting universe, not too many details are given away, bu [...]
