    1. Fast paced, complex, with a host of characters who all stand distinct from one another this is something every author would like other to say about his own book Many authors get there eventually but few manage it straight out of the gate. This debut novel by J Birch absolutely exceeded my expectations, in these respects and I know that Westerns are not generally considered to be in fashion but Gasher Creek is a reminder that the best stories are about the characters, not the genre, and if a tale [...]

    2. A fast paced crime novel disguised as a Western, I really enjoyed this novel There s a good number of likeable good guys and detestable bad ones that keep you hooked until the end, and I liked the dual points of view.

    3. When I started reading this one, I didn t think I was going to like it It was the basic premise of it that sucked me in and kept me going In the small town of Gasher creek a local wakes up with a dead whore and someone pointing a gun at him that struck me as enough to want to find out why, what it was all about, and most importantly how it ended I was quite unprepared for how brilliant the story was It is a twisting, turning mystery full with murder and deception, love, and family hatred, and a [...]

    4. There was nothing about this novel that I didn t love Although it s not a genre I normally read, the depth of the characters, the fast paced story line and a well thought out plot grabbed my attention from the start Birch has an undeniable talent for writing

    5. Gasher Creek plays well as a western, adds a good mystery, and seasons it perfectly with a sprinkling of the paranormal.
