    1. Wyre has an amazing talent for picking the reader up from where they re sitting and dropping them directly into the middle of the world known as New Amsterdam It s a damn fine trip One of the things I enjoy most about Wyre s writing is the voice of the characters and Jeffrey has a fantastic voice He s clever, funny, and engaging, with just enough angst to make him sexy, and just enough scatter to make him cute Jeffrey s a best friend kind of guy, a buddy that guy you look back on and wonder why [...]

    2. This review can be found at Brief Encounters Reviews. This is a sweet little story about second chances, but I found there was a lot of information in the book which left it feeling a bit packed for me Because this is set in a world created in Hearts Under Fire, which I haven t read, the author did attempt to explain who the people were in this book that orbit around our main character Jeffrey He s a bit of an unlucky guy, but he s happy to have a job at Clark s bar The explanation of who Clark a [...]

    3. Reviewed for heartsonfirereviewsIt is no secret that I am a fan of short stories and novellas It is a difficult thing, to pack enough information into a short to make it seem complete without packing so much that the reader feels rushed with it all This Valentine s Day short 40 pages on iPad comes close to too much, but never crosses that line for me It was just enough Jeffrey is the type of helpful, sweet guy, working and going to school, who just has a black cloud hanging over his head His mot [...]

    4. Poor Jeffrey really needs a break He is still having mom issues, the sketch pad he has used as therapy to help him cope with the shooting has been missing, and he is just plain lonely Thankfully, Clark plays a hand in the sketch pad recovery, with some bonuses, as well as helping Jeffrey reconnect with Aquila, whom Jeffrey hasn t seen since shortly after the shooting I wish this one was longer and we got to see some of Jeffrey and Aquila s blossoming relationship Solid 3.5 stars

    5. 3.5 4 Poor Jeffrey, he really is having a tough time, he cares for his mother, who is suffering from scizophrenia, goes to school, works and had a very traumatic experience with a school shooting So, it was about time for his luck to change This was a cute story and I m sure I would have loved it if there had just been a bit , but that is the problems with shorts
